While everyone around him showers both the meal and the chef with praise, our hero can only swallow hard and manage a faint, “It’s good.” The chef, delighted by all the compliments, serves everyone another helping. The whole room is overjoyed—except for our hero, who turns every shade imaginable.
Seeing our hero struggling with his meal, the guests and the chef ask, “Didn’t you like it?” He replies that he actually enjoyed it very much, but he’s feeling a bit under the weather. Hearing this, the chef insists he try a new drink he’s just developed. Our hero forces himself to drink it, but it only makes his stomach worse.
That night, feeling unwell, he heads to the emergency room—only to find everyone from dinner there, including the chef.
